REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 4TH. Return the form being sent home to their teacher OR email your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name to Shane Morris at shane.morris@hotmail.com
- This fun event is open to all students in grades 1 to 8.
- The Hesby community is invited to cheer on the spellers in the MPR.
- Both nights will have snacks, drinks, and raffle prizes (all participants are entered to win).
How Does the HesBEE Work?
Spellers compete within their grade level using words randomly selected from a list divided into three tiers: “One Bee” for grades 1 to 3; “Two Bee” for grades 4 to 6; “Three Bee” for grades 7 and 8. If spellers go through all of the words in their tier, words are then selected from the next tier. Spellers can ask for a word’s definition and/or use in a sentence to help them.
The complete list of 450 words – provided by the Scripps National Spelling Bee – are available here: HesBee Spelling list.
The winners from each grade will compete against each other in early 2020 for a spot in the L.A. County regional bee. The regional champion advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.!
Parents, if your child would like to participate, please return the form being sent home to their teacher OR email your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name to Shane Morris at shane.morris@hotmail.com by November 4th.
Have fun and good luck, spellers!
